I Fall for "Fall"

Challenge #113 - Seasons

Congrats to our Winner, Top Tipper and Top 3 of Challenge #112!

Seasons is the new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and I chose fall because it is my favorite season of the year. On my 6x6 card I used an image, Apple Tree and Bear, from Birdie Brown. It's actually a freebie and you can snag it for yourself right here on Torico's blog. On a sad note, she has decided to close Birdie Brown at Etsy the end of November but she'll continue to design for other companies. You can get the details here from Torico.

Card Deets

I used Ranger's Glossy Accents on my apples, a Taylored Expressions die for the wheelbarrow and a pack of Jolee leaf stickers. The sentiment is from Verve's Bountiful Harvest set and the button and twine are from my stash. It's fun to create scenes on cards and Birdie Brown images are some of my personal favorites. Don't forget to stop by the online shop if you like her images and get them before they're gone.

Animals Just Wanna Have Fun

A pumpkin full of fish??? Say what!

That's right, this Fish or Treat Cat is set to have a spookin' good time this Halloween. After all, who says trick or treating is just for kids. ;)

It's time for a new linky party to open at Make It Monday and our sponsor this week is the talented Melissa Jenkins of Meljen's Designs. My teamies have an awesome lineup of inspiration featuring her cute digital images so please click HERE to be inspired or their links on my right sidebar.

As for my card I had some crafty fun putting this one together. After I colored my image with Copic's I sponged the panel with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink by Ranger. A black atyou Spica pen was used to do some highlighting and I added the Guess Who? sticker to finish it. As for the card it is covered with two wonky panels - one which is embossed, a pair of googly eyes, cut outs from a 6x6 Halloween pad by Pebbles and a scary punched border fence by Martha Stewart.

My teamies have some amazing inspiration for you so please drop by their blogs, say hello and check out who their Pick Of The Week is. You never know, it could be your fabulous creation that's featured this week. ;)

Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness is the new challenge at The Squirrel and The Fox

Sponsored by

Grab a Banner

Prize is 4 free Delicious Doodles stamps.

I'm using Rosalee from our current sponsor and she was fun to color. A Fleur de Lis die by Spellbinders adds a touch of elegance and she's surrounded by several pink elements-butterflies, paper roses, bling, a crystal heart and twine. Because there's so much happening on the front of my card I stamped the sentiment on the inside. A little bling, organza ribbon and a handmade bow out of grosgrain ribbon complete my card.

Here's a peek...

My aunt is a breast cancer survivor (4 yrs. +) and I am on DT's with women who are currently battling this dreaded disease so I wanted them to know they are not alone. Whether you are a cancer survivor, going through your own battle, or encouraging a family member/friend people everywhere are here to support you in your fight!

On this note, I'd like to share a project my DD recently completed as a Textiles, Merchandising and Design student at college. The challenge was to create a custom designed bra for class and students could elect to enter their bra in the local Bra's For a Cause charity auction. This nationwide annual event raises money for the Cancer Research Institute which benefits all types of cancer research. She was inspired by the beautiful clothes that Scarlett O'Hara wore in the movie Gone With the Wind and I have to say I love her finished project. I realize I am partial ;) but her professor and classmates loved it too and encouraged her to enter the competition. The charity gala is next week so we'll see how "Modern Scarlett" fares. She has my vote!

Front of "Modern Scarlett"

A close up, love the detail on the cups :)

The bra cups had to be covered, she used velvet for the
front and satin for the inside.

Thanks for taking a look at my card and her TXMD project. :) Also, I would like to thank Teri of Delicious Doodles for providing the DT with images to create with.

For more inspiration my teamies have an incredible line up of cards which you can see HERE or you'll find their links on my right sidebar.

Have a terrific day and don't forget to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. You can always check the local events happening in your city/state, click the link and donate directly to the Cancer Research Institute or send handmade cards to cancer patients at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX. Top Tip Tuesday #112

Black and White with a Splash of Color

I love the theme of this challenge but I have to say it was definitely a challenge. I found myself wanting to add more color, somewhere, anywhere lol. We have two terrific sponsors, Fred She Said and Kenny K, for this challenge at Top Tip Tuesday. The image on my card Trixxie Treat is by the talented Kenny Kiernan and I think she's gorgeous. She was certainly fun to splash some color on. :)

Obviously my color of choice was purple. In keeping with the
theme I die cut flowers from a black and white spiderweb
dp and added a black die cut TE spiderweb to the sides
of the image panel (which I cut into two pieces).
Two paper purple roses add a bit more
color and cheer my spirits. ;)

Make It Monday #162 with Nicecrane Designs

Welcome!!!

We are fortunate to have Nicecrane Designs as our sponsor this week at Make It Monday. On my cards I'm featuring the Butterfly Twinchies Collage Sheet. Each image is twinchie size, 2x2, and is easy to print and assemble onto a card.

I needed a few thank you cards and I'm also thinking ahead to the Christmas season which is nearly upon us. Hard to believe, isn't it! These card sets would make great gifts for teachers, busy moms or the elderly. I finished a card folder to share how I plan to give these. Each folder can be customized to suit the recipient's taste and my only caution is this. If you plan to place flowers or embellishments on the front of the card you will need to allow for a deep pocket to store them in. I followed this tutorial here and chose to keep the front of my cards low profile so they'd fit nicely into the pocket and I wouldn't have to make any adjustments. ;)

We have the talented Kenny K as our sponsor this week at Make It Monday and my card features Super Genius. Anyone a fan of The Big Bang Theory television show? We are huge fans and this guy reminds me of those brilliant nerds on the show. This card is for my DH (who's pretty smart himself) because he's had a rough couple of months both personally and professionally. Sometimes you just need to hear from those you love that you matter. ;)

Here are my PICK's OF THE WEEK...

The Squirrel and The Fox #54

S-fold card

Things With Wings

That's the new challenge at The Squirrel and The Fox. I placed my sponsor image, Lil Minx, by Hobbybook on the front panel of my S-fold card. These are super easy to make using a scoring board. Score at 3 and 6" and use your bone folder to make the S-fold. I couldn't get this card to lie totally flat so it's hard to see that the design of my dp matches up perfectly on each panel but it does. I'm kind of peculiar about stuff like that. ;)

I placed her on the edge of the first scored panel and added a die cut stamped tag by MFT to the back panel. Two Sassafras Lass brooches that were in hiding in my crafty supplies are making appearances on this card. I should say that I took artistic liberty with the fairy's skirt by adding fringe to enhance it and on her sleeve. Her wing was covered with silver Stickles and black diamond Stickles were used to put a little fairy dust in her hair. When you open the card it reveals a gift card tucked in the hidden panel which is why I stamped MFT's No Peeking on the tag (my naughty family likes to peek).
